The BAT VK-D5SE CD Player demonstrates how lifelike and involving two-channel playback can be. No digital source can claim audiophile credentials without using state-of-the-art engineering in both the digital and analog domains. The VK-D5SE shows its BAT pedigree with outstanding implementation in each of these dimensions. Simply put?this player sounds like music. Pure and Simple!
The VK-D5SE continues BAT?s pioneering commitment to fully balanced circuitry, in both the digital and analog domains. It employs four Burr Brown PCM1704 24Bit DAC chipsets in a true dual differential configuration. The output from these chips feeds a unique current to voltage converter that achieves unequaled performance by using the highest quality Vishay bulk metal foil resistors in a differential passive Flying I-V circuit.
The VK-D5SE?s simple and elegant engineering approach is without peer. A proprietary servo-board synchronizes the Philips transport mechanism to a single master clock while the VK-D5SE?s single box design eliminates interface induced jitter. The BAT-designed reconstruction filter uses a full differential linear-phase topology to preserve the integrity of the original signal.
The VK-D5SE?s analog signal is amplified by a high-current output stage employing four of BAT?s amazing 6H30 Super Tubes. In order to support the power requirements of these tubes, the VK-D5SE?s power supply features a larger toroidal transformer-the same one used BAT?s revolutionary VK-51SE preamplifier. Dual SIX-PAK??s of paper-and-oil output capacitors provide rock-solid drive and dynamics while revealing the natural, harmonically accurate presentation of this remarkable analog section. Taken as a whole, the VK-D5SE?s engineering strengths results in a life-like musical presentation unlike any you?ve heard from a CD player. The best part, all the VK-D5?s can be fully upgraded to VK-D5SE status at any time, maintaining BAT?s commitment to a sensible upgrade path on all of their products.
